Scott Barnett, 59, of Mossville, passed away at 12:08 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born in Chicago on November 2, 1950, a son of Laurence and Lucille Barnett. He married Denise Scovill on May 12, 2001. She preceded him in death in 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Scott is survived by his beloved cat, Snuggie, and will be missed by all of his relatives across the country.
He graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He was a Program Assistant for PARC Residential in Peoria. He had one of the longest tenures at PARC, from June 30, 1976 to November 25, 2009.
Scott was very detailed in his work, had a passionate concern for his clients and encouraged their independence. He was truly loved and adored by his PARC clients and their families.
He attended Mossville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working in his garden; collecting model trains; hiking and mountain biking; listening to Rhythm and Blues; and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Scott was a “doer”. If he said he would do something, you could bank on it.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria. Funeral services and interment at St. Patrick Cemetery in Kickapoo will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in Scott’s memory to the Peoria Animal Welfare Shelter (PAWS) to assist in animal rescue and adoption.

Sadly I just learned of Scott's passing today.  Scott was a major part of my young life.  Unfortunately, we lost touch over the years, but I always remember him fondly.   I'll never forget the catalogued and cross referenced album collection, the one T-top on one off Camaro, a flightless parakeet, and who could ever forget the legendary "Eric Dolphy Memorial BBQ" and so, so much more.  Scott was a true "one of a kind" and a wonderful role model.
Thank-you to whoever put all of these wonderful pictures up, it was nice to see what has been going on in Scott's lif the last 20 yrs.

You are missed

I saw Scott's obit in the Peoria Journal Star today. I worked with Scott years ago at Parc and have always considered him a friend. I had seen him a few times in the past few years while out at Parc and he always had the smile on his face. I am very sad that I just learned about the visitation (8 p.m. Tuesday) and that there is no public funeral service. Scott was a wonderful person and will truly be missed by his  Parc family.
